Captured on Hermon Pond in Hampden, Maine, this peaceful morning scene reflects the first golden light of day as it stretches across the water. A pair of paddlers glide silently through the mist while the cool morning air lifts gentle steam from the lake. If you've ever been there at daybreak, you can almost hear the haunting call of the loons echoing across the water.

The camera captured the view, but it couldn't capture the sound. The loons were calling across Hermon Pond that morning, and two people quietly paddled through the mist as the sun came up. It was one of those moments where you forget to take another picture because you're too busy soaking it all in.
